This picture shows the direct link between real life objects and design.

I love discovering the inspiration behind pieces of art. One of my favorite challenges on Project Runway was the photo challenge where the designers go out into various parts of the city and find inspiration. They shot pictures of architecture or a water fountain or graffiti or a yellow taxi. Then they would take that image and create something familiar yet fantastic from the idea of it. Some were more literal and some were more interpretive, but all were fabulous.

Now I can’t design or draw or paint and I am clumsy with a camera so I’ve never dreamed of having any sort of artistic career. Sometimes I feel so stifled because I don’t know how to express myself when I am inspired. But I have a good eye and I am a meticulous archiver, so writing this blog (with more pictures than words) sort of helps to release some of my pent-up creativity.

Anyway, enjoy the lovely photo. And click on the source link if you want to know where to find the pretty things pictured.
