In the meantime…

June 26, 2011

Hello? Anyone still reading my blog?

I’m having difficulty committing to return to my blog while I’m in school, so I’m taking some low commitment baby steps in the meantime.

If you were left with a big void when I took a hiatus from blogging, please check out my Pinterest boards to get your fashion fix.

I promise to return to blogging…someday.

xx,

joiji

Hiatus

August 31, 2010

I apologize to all my readers for the inactivity of my blog as of late. I am preparing to start business school (T-6 days!) and I haven’t been able to find much time to update ClosetAmbitions.

I have no idea what my schedule will be like in the months to come, but I’ll try to post at least once a week because I know you are all starved for my impeccable taste and insightful fashion commentary (ha!).

In all seriousness, please accept my apologies and my appreciation for bearing with me.

xx,

Joyce

High Society

July 30, 2010

A friend of mine got me addicted to High Society, Tinsley Mortimer’s reality show on The CW (which has been renewed for a second season in the Hamptons). Despite its lofty title, its trashy-meter is off the charts. But to be honest, it’s pretty addicting as a guilty pleasure. Couture gowns, fabulous charity galas, designer bags (designed by Tinsley herself)–what’s not to love? Her Park Avenue Princess life looks something a little like this:

Outfit Solutions: Summer Heat

July 25, 2010

It’s too hot for clothes. Unless the clothes are fabulously airy and light. These barely-there dresses are the simplest outfit solution for this unbearable heat. Throw up your hair, slip on a pair of flat sandals and you’re ready to go.

Batty for Abbey

July 23, 2010

Abbey Lee Kershaw is a master of these fictional character-inspired shoots. She conveys playful imagination so well, whether she be gracing a couture gown or rocking a leather jacket.

Still looking for my perfect straw fedora. And while Behati makes aviators look pretty darn good, I will not make that mistake again.

Mad for Joanie

July 14, 2010

Mad Men Season 4 premiers on July 25th!

I am literally obsessed with Christina Hendricks. I think she’s the most interesting woman in Hollywood right now. I love her gorgeous red hair and her white-as-milk skin. Her little butt-chin is like the sexiest thing ever. And need I even mention her dangerous curves? She is so…spectacular.

Then again, it’s hard to tell if I like Christina Hendricks all that much or if it’s really Joan Holloway that I love. I admire Joanie’s prowess and her deft handling of every situation big and small. She is totally in control at all times and no one can touch her. It’s so misleading and short-sighted to label her as simply “sexy.” While she does use her sexuality to her advantage, she got to where she is in life (meaning her status at Sterling Cooper) because she was far more capable than any of the other girls, pretty and ugly alike.

The Wild Wild West Meets Little House on the Prairie

July 12, 2010

I’m trying to get back to my American roots while living in a foreign country. (Ironically, this editorial was pulled from a French magazine.) Unfortunately, this foreign country is actually my “motherland” and the culture runs deep in my blood. I write this as I rock a shirt printed with grammatically incorrect Engrish.
